_module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; text_line_height=&#8221;2em&#8221; header_2_font=&#8221;|700|||||||&#8221; header_2_font_size=&#8221;18px&#8221; header_2_line_height=&#8221;1.8em&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The physicist <strong>Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda de Teresa<\/strong>, CSIC researcher at the <em>Instituto de Nanociencia y Materiales de Arag\u00f3n, INMA<\/em>, a joint institute of CSIC and the Universidad de Zaragoza and head of the DUAL BEAM and nanofabrication area of the Advanced Microscopy Laboratory (LMA), has just been appointed <strong>\u201cfellow\u201d<\/strong> of the European Physical Society for <strong>his significant contributions to the field of Physics<\/strong> and his service to the community as <strong>president of the Division<\/strong> <em>of Condensed Matter Physics<\/em> <strong>of the EPS<\/strong> from the year 2021.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of J<strong>os\u00e9 Mar\u00eda de Teresa<\/strong>, the distinction is awarded for the <strong>impact of his work on a better understanding of the behavior of the electrical transport of magnetic and superconducting materials at the nanoscale, as well as his commitment and service to the community through the EPS.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The EPS Fellowship is an <strong>honourary distinction and recognition awarded annually<\/strong> after assessment by the EPS Executive Committee of the merits of the nominated candidates and subsequent voting by the Governing Board. As can be seen on the society&#8217;s website (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eps.org\/page\/distinction_fellows\">https:\/\/www.eps.org\/page\/distinction_fellows<\/a>), other Spanish physicists, such as Lluis Torner, \u00c1ngel Rubio and V\u00edctor Velasco, share this distinction with Nobel laureates like Professor Claude Cohen-Tanoudji.<\/p>\n<p>The EPS was founded in 1968 in Geneva (Switzerland), with <strong>the aim of disseminating advances in Physics<\/strong> and promoting European collaboration in this field, thus contributing to a greater European cultural unity Currently, the society has <strong>as 42 national physics societies (including the Royal Spanish Society of Physics), with more than 120,000 members, and each year it awards the status of &#8220;fellow&#8221;<\/strong> to those members who have made <strong>significant contributions<\/strong> in some field of Physics and\/or have performed a relevant service to the EPS.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243;
