We are looking for an expert candidate in Atomic Force Microscopy to apply for a Juan de la Cierva-training contract.

RESEARCH FIELD: Atomic Force Microscopy

DEADLINE (CV preselection): 15th January 2022

OPEN CALL: 20/01/2022 al 03/02/2022

TYPE OF CONTRACT: 2 years full‐time

Research Line:

We work in the Advanced Microscopy Laboratory, recognized as ICTS by the government of Spain ((https://lma.unizar.es/icts), which belongs to the University of Zaragoza, and has outstanding facilities in microscopies, spectroscopies, micro and nanolithographies that provide international service; and at INMA, a center in Nanoscience and Materials with great international projection (https://inma.unizar-csic.es).

The candidate will join the multidisciplinary group of “Structural Biology”, made up of 14 stable doctors, and will be under the supervision of Anabel Lostao, head of the Environmental Local Probe Microscopy Laboratory.

Our research line is based on the use of Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM): a) in biology for the analysis of enzymatic and regulatory protein mechanisms through the study at the single molecule level of the association patterns and conformational changes upon ligand binding, as well as through the analysis of the forces that maintain biomolecular complexes; and b) in materials science for the integration (dip pen nanolithography –DPN/AFM) of molecular magnets, proteins, polymers and metallic nanoparticles in superconducting and graphene magnetic sensors, for the development of hybrid quantum processors for ICT technologies and new ultra-sensitive detection devices.

Requirements
– Doctorate in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science or Nanoscience
– Candidates will have defended their doctoral thesis between 1 Jan 2020 and 31 Dec 2021
– Competitive publications and communications to international congresses
– Have made stays, preferably international

Valuable skills
– Expertise on Atomic Force Microscopy, Force Spectroscopy, Dip-pen nanolithography
– Labeling and functionalization of molecules, nanoparticles and surfaces
– Experience in the manipulation of proteins, bacteria, nanoparticles and nanomagnets
– Experience in Scanning Tunneling Microscopy, Magnetic Force Microscopy or Electron Microscopies

How to apply for pre-selection

Those interested should send CV, motivation letter and contact details of 2 reference researchers to Anabel Lostao, aglostao@unizar.es, indicating JCF2021 in the email subject, before January 15, 2022.
